Artist Interview: Molly Mccoy

In the New York City area the competition is at a all time high when it comes to the overall creation of music and recording artist Molly Mccoy has been able to provide consistency on top of quality throughout her journey thus far. Check out her recent interview with Du’Lanci Vallie below.

In your own opinion, What is the current music scene like in your local area?

Being from The Bronx, where it all started, the music scene now I feel has improved. There are way more opportunities for up and coming artists like myself, there are also more shows and events for artists to showcase their talent.

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

The internet has definitely impacted the music business a lot. There are so many ways to showcase your talent and build your fan base, and sell your music. With all these platforms between Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, it is so much easier to get yourself out there. It’s definitely enough room for everybody to win.

What is your latest release and where fans can find it?

I just dropped three new freestyles, the “We Go Up Freestyle“ inspired by the Nicki Minaj and Fivio Foreign song, (which is on all platforms). I have the “Mind Yo Business Freestyle”, (which is on all streaming platforms), and was inspired by the Lakeyah song. Lastly I have the “Sleazy Flow Freestyle” inspired by the Sleazy World Go track which is on audiomack. I also have my hit single “Big Mad” and much more streaming everywhere now.

During your entire journey through the music business, what would you consider your worst experience?

Well it has been a journey. I will have to say that the worst experience I have ever had, would be me missing my opportunity to perform for a major platform, I really regret that a lot. I do know that there will be more better opportunities. I may even get hit up to perform for them again, but it was just at that moment it meant so much and to miss out on it really was a bad experience.

What would you consider your most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?

Wow there are a lot but I will have to say my proudest moment would have to be my song being played on Hot97 (shout out to DJ Drewski), and performing at S.O.B’s as well which definitely was a proud moment for me.

Everyone in life goes through adversity of some sort. Is there anything in your life that has any influence on the kind of songs you write? What is the most difficult thing you've had to endure on your path to becoming a musician?

I would have to say getting locked up for mistaking identity. I was accused of a crime that I didn’t commit, I was arrested, let out on bail, and fought the case for two years. I went to trial and beat the case. This experience was traumatizing and tough, but I still kept doing my music. They even tried using my music against me, but I still kept on creating and doing what I love. Also having my son ,Being A New Mom has been a big influence on my music and the songs I write.

What is on your agenda or what can fans expect to see from you in 2022?

My agenda for 2022 is growth, more music, and more projects. My album will finally be dropping, I’m still working on release date and name. This is like my baby, so I’m taking my time and giving y’all my all.
