Are you able to make a living with your music? If so, how were you able to attain a career doing what you love? If not, what do you do in order to fund your music career? What advice would give to someone who's interested in pursuing a career in music?
I would say I have made and am making money off my music currently, but I am not at the point where I am making a living off of it just yet. But I know that I can which is why I don’t stop. Right now I have a few side hustles along with a 9-5 to help fund my career since I am an independent artist. So the grind is real, I am not doing all this for nothing, whatever I have to do to get where I wanna go I’m gonna do. The advice I would give anyone pursuing a music career is to know what you want to do, where you wanna go and most important set goals and crush them. You don’t wanna be blindly working just to do it you want to have a purpose and make people believe in you or want to be you. If you’re not gonna go hard, GO HOME!
If you wasn't in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead?
That is a question I already ask myself because you never know what’s gonna happen in life right? Even though I’m currently in school for business management, (lol) I ideally would probably be a psychologist or social worker. I say that because I’ve always been fascinated with the human brain and the way it works as well as how I can work the human brain and help it. I am also someone who takes pride and wants to help others who are less fortunate or who just needs someone to talk to. I always say I give the best advice but sometimes I don’t take it. But, that makes me feel my purpose may be bigger than me and may be for me to change someone else’s life in order to find my purpose.
What is your latest release and where fans can find it?
My latest release is my new single “You Mad?” Which is out now on all platforms. So please be sure to check it out, if you want some BARS look no further. Lol :)
Do you miss the era of CD sales OR do you prefer the new wave of music streaming? Explain...
I do miss the era of CD’s and the quality of music that came with it but as far as sales, I feel that you are able to make way more money now with other things than sales so it kind of balanced itself out. If anything it may be better than the CD era since around those time many artists weren’t owning their masters and there weren’t as many avenues for making money as there is now with social media and bookings/hostings.
In your own opinion, What is the current music scene like in your local area?
In my opinion many people don’t know the artist they really are or want to be so they’re just tryna fit in to play it safe until they figure it out or someone comes along and helps them figure it out. That’s what I think about the current music scene in my area, everyone is playing it safe, staying in a box. That’s where I stand out, I have no desire to fit in, I’ve always stood out and will continue to do that in my music until people understand I’m doing what’s natural and organic for me and with that organic fans and supporters will surely come.
Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?
I love them both to be honest, however in having to choose I would say performing is more enjoyable. To see people rocking, bopping and singing my music is something I’ve envisioned my whole life. It’s like a dream come true and reliving a dejavu scene over and over. I feel an adrenaline rush every time I hit the stage and it’s just something that fulfills me and what I see myself doing for life.
What is on your agenda or what can fans expect to see from you in 2022?
Great question, as a new artist I have so many things lined up to get myself out there and have people get to know me more. I have interviews, videos, live performances and much more coming up. I want to write a biography at some point in my career as well as many other business ventures. So to stay updated please follow me on all social media (Tiarra Millz) and be sure to support what you love. (ME) 😀
