Check out the latest interview with New Jersey recording artist Tony Newbury and TGWEWON's Du'Lanci Vallie below.
What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
My music is original. All of my lyrics are about my life. I take out parts of me and leave them on a page. I'm proud of my work ethic too.
If you weren't in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead?
I see myself being in entertainment. I really like marketing too. I know that field is something I would excel in.
What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as an artist?
Every January I set goals to give myself an idea of what I'm aiming to do by the new year. Nothing happens overnight. It’s non-stop hard work. I do my best to fulfill my expectations.
Out of all the songs you've released, what do you think is your Best song and why?
My song Tony is my most vulnerable piece of work. I'm really proud of myself for that one. When faced with making a big decision, how do you decide what is the right thing to do?
Any decision that feels rushed is not worth making. I try to do what feels right.
Are you able to make a living with your music? If so, how were you able to attain a career doing what you love? If not, what do you do in order to fund your music career? What advice would you give to someone who's interested in pursuing a career in music?
I've invested in myself way more than anything ive made so far. I currently work at a restaurant and for a while was at a moving company. It's a really tough stage to be at. I truly believe the money will come soon. Advice I would give somebody is to always look to learn. The deeper ive gone go into this game the more ive become interested in how to get to the next level. I want to make a career out of this more than anything else. Just keep going.
What is your latest release and where can fans find it?
My album Over 21 just dropped on all streaming platforms!
What is on your agenda or what can fans expect to see from you in 2023?
In 2023 I plan on making music that really tells where I'm at right now. Ive thrown shows. I'm getting streams. Everything is starting to grow pretty fast. I plan on bringing my fans along the way.
