Artist Interview: DIOR

Are you looking for something new to add to your music playlist? We recommend checking out music from recording artist DIOR from New York City. Check out her interview with Du’Lanci Vallie.

What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?

Honestly, I was never a kid who grew up wanting to be a musical artist. In fact I was into sports like swimming, basketball, etc.. Funny story, I started off writing sad poems in ninth grade, after a breakup with my first boyfriend. I eventually stopped a couple months later once I got over the breakup. I legit waited four years until I reached college to start writing freestyles to song instrumentals. I dropped out of college at the end of my semester because I fell in love with music and never looked back!

Are you able to make a living with your music? If so, how were you able to attain a career doing what you love? If not, what do you do in order to fund your music career? What advice would give to someone who's interested in pursuing a career in music?

I produce some kind of income doing music. Obviously not as much as someone who's signed. I'm an independent artist, as one I would say doing music and actually getting it out there to the public eye's costs. Thanks to my management team, I get the help I need to pursue my career in music. While also using my own money to get things done on my own! If you're independent like me, it will get tricky. As an artist don't look for the money in music. Stay consistent, keep your face out there, and never give up. It takes time!

What is your latest release and where fans can find it?

I recently dropped an EP on ALL platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music, Youtube, etc... It's called "Higher" by DIOR. You can follow me on instagram @dianydior the link is in my bio as well.

During your entire journey through the music business, what would you consider your Worst experience?

My worst experience was letting myself down. I went through a phase where I wanted everything to be "perfect" and went completely ghost for a year! I saw everybody in my city flourishing with their music and immediately woke up. There is never a perfect time, and I hate myself for wasting time that we don't have!

What would you consider your most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?

Signing to my management label " Certz Ent", & "Who's House Entertainment" was the so far the most successful thing so far, just because I have a family and a team that see's my vision and is doing all they can to help me get there. Also super proud of me doing shows and people asking me for autographs. The best feeling I ever felt in life!

Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?

I really love both but, I would say performing. I get to visually show people the personality they hear through my music. I love dancing, yelling, cameras, people! I get to be myself and show people behind moving like a superstar, I'm actually a super energetic funny person and showing that while presenting my music is a blessing.

What is on your agenda or what can fans expect to see from you in 2022?

For the rest of 2022, I will be extremely consistent! Expect to see me on your news feed every day! Literally. Like I said before, I was contemplating and overthinking everything to be perfect but now, it's only time for me to go crazy.
